About
This is a site about every day life in France, and the differences between living & working in France and the US, and how France has changed me. All written from a dumb American’s (that’d be me!) point of view.
A bit of information about me:
I’m American who dreamed of living abroad, particularly in France. I studied French and sent my CV (résumé) to every French company I could find on the internet. I eventually even paid for my own trip to Paris in order to see the Eiffel Tower several companies. It was a gamble, but it paid off as I was offered a job. Seven months later I was living out my dream, in Paris. Shortly after I met a beautiful French woman who is now my wife, and we’ve since started a family.
I’ve worked for several companies in France, in mostly English and very international environments. I’m currently working for a major IT consulting/outsourcing company in France. This has been a very culturally enriching experience and has enabled me to discover the French culture through daily discussions with my mostly French coworkers.
I have to be honest at this point and say I often think about returning to the US, but I know if and when I do, I will miss France and almost certainly return.
So I hope that’s enough to tickle your appetite. If you’ve ever thought of moving to France, ever wondered what it’s like to live there, or why the French are always against “us”, then you’ve come to the right place. So sit back, prop your feet up, and enjoy your stay. And if you like what you see, please tell a friend.
And finally, if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for future topics, please let me know by via the contact page.
