Writer’s Block - I need ideas!
June 06th 2007
Sorry for the lack of updates, but I’ve been suffering from writer’s block. I’ve sat down at the computer and went to my site ready to write a story, but the subjects I think of just sound kind of boring. This site is called “Everyday France” and I guess many days are in fact kind of boring. And I don’t want this site to end up being a diary like many other blogs.
One thing that kind of slowed me down was that a reader kindly notified that my articles were being stolen and illegally published on another blog. Apparently my site isn’t the only one, he’s stealing lots of others too. So far attempts at contacting him have gone unanswered. The next step? Filing a “Digital Millenium Copyright Act” violation notice with his provider. Great, more work that I don’t have time for. We’ll see if this post ends up on his site, that will be pretty funny if it does.
So, to get me out of this writer’s block, I am looking for ideas. Please leave a comment and let me know what you’d like to hear about. And if there are no suggestions, I will have to assume that there is a lack of interest.
I’ve been debating on a change in format, or actually an additional format. But I’d like to see what you come up with first. So let me have it!

Hi Michael,
What about places to spend vacation.
Why french people prefer to spend their vacation in poor countries? Because personally, I can’t have fun next to people who are starving.
Sure enough, my post about writer’s block was copied by the guy stealing my content! I’m trying to think of a way to have fun with this one, let me know if you have ideas.

Wow, that’s pretty awful of that person! At least you know he thinks your blog has substance and is pretty interesting.
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your wonderful blog site. I have learned so much about French life (culture, government system, and just everyday things like how to find a good seat on the train/metro. I have a little notebook that I am keeping about my soon-t0-be-wish-come-true. A few years ago, I decided to write down what kind of a life that I wanted to live, one of them was to go to France one day and just live there. My grandfather was stationed there and worked with the French as allies. He talked to me about the delicious food, the simple acts of respect, and the way French people know how to live. I will be vacationing in Franch next year in October, 3 days after getting married. We will probably be there for two weeks and one week in Italy, not sure about the later. Can you please tell me the best places to go to get a feel of everyday life in France. I just want to do tourist sites for 1-2 days, tops. We wont have a big budget for this trip, but luckily we have family in paris, so we have already recieved invitations to stay there. So, how about for your next postings, could you let me know places to shop for food, bakeries that you like, restaurants that are good and not espensive, places to shop for clothes and shoes. In the US I buy most of my clothes from the open markets. They offer high quality clothing about 90% off. I have shirts that cost me only $2 us dollars. My wonderful fiance has never been on a vacaton in his whole life. Unbelievalbe. I would really love for him to taste delicious fruit tarts, chocolate elcairs, a bottle a red wine, bread with cheese, sitting in outdoor cafes, just enjoying time together, breathing in this beautiful city. I would also love to get my hands on a few essentials like great shoes and some nice clothes for my family. Lastly I would love to taste some more fine chocolate. I have the pleasure of tasting French chocolate two times. Friends who traveled there brought back some for my parents and I had two pieces. I need moooorre. I would also love to know of some place to visit. We love the countryside as well as anywhere that is peaceful , beautiful, or vibrant with life. Please help me make this trip a most memorable one for us. and thanks again , your information is beyond what I ever imagined. I wrote eveything down, and I love all the small informations that you give. I will be ordering the books that you suggested and keeping in mind all your wonderful suggestions so we can have a easy trip, with a lot of experiences (even though we have never lived in Paris). Oh, what about jobs for people who want to move to paris . Thanks again, and keep up the great work your doing. Remember the quantity of your work does not reaalyy matter. The quality of your work is what matters…and boy do you produce quality.
